attended these events and not remembering the crowd being 90% hot girls raging
at full capacity for 7 hours straight. For all the impressive video editing,
colour correction and impossible camera angles, there's now such a disparity
between what's depicted in an aftermovie and what you're actually experiencing
in reality that we've taken it upon ourselves to list some things a potential
festival attendee commenting in excited all caps in a YouTube comment thread is

Secret models when only a certain archetype is depicted dancing with hair flowing
in 120 frames per second. Reducing the colourful South African crowd to a
single demographic is a downright shame. Yes, yes, it's more marketable that
way but the amount of confused foreigners commenting on the Ultra South Africa
aftermovie about the lack of black people in attendance kind of raised a valid
point, despite how ignorant and uneducated those comments were. There were lots
of black, indian and coloured people there, something you definitely wouldn't
see at your traditional EDM event locally, which is great for the scene, why
not show that to the world a bit more? <o:p></o:p></span></div>

Hell, phone up your unemployed philosophy major buddy and even he'll tell you that Nietzsche found beauty in such a concentrated mix of human experience all partaking in collective suffering and euphoria. Festivals are not the sterile, edited and well-scored bursts of energy and sexual tension they're marketed to be and in light of that there's the interesting prospect that reality, as vivid and devoid of glamour and the Nashville filter as it is, just may be better after all.</span></div>

But the real breakthrough came with double-header ‘The Whistler/Who’s Afraid </span><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">of Detroit?.’ The 12” cemented Claude’s reputation as a producer to be reckoned with, crossing borders, </span><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">genres and musical ears. The Whistler was embraced by the bass crowd, and at the same time </span><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">sitting just as easily on the more 4/4 floors. Similarly, Who’s Afraid of Detroit? (a social comment about </span><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">the unfounded fears of suburbanites visiting downtown Detroit) is now known as one of the classic </span><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">dance tracks of the decade.</span></span></div>

With the inaugural Ultra South Africa only a few months away, festival organisers have announced Phase 2 of the line up that’s set to amaze the multitudes of revelers flocking to Cape Town and Johannesburg on the 14th and 15th February 2014 to experience the world’s premier electronic music festival. With the likes of Tiësto, Alesso and Nicky Romero among those already confirmed to perform, as well as homegrown heroes such as Goldfish and Black Coffee, even more international and local stars have now been revealed as well.</span><br />

As ever, Ultra has  handpicked a collection of the finest DJs from across the globe to join the stellar  billing for the festival’s first South Africa edition. Double Grammy award-winner  and global megastar Afrojack, 17-year-old  prodigy Martin Garrix who has taken  the world by storm in 2013 with his smash hit ‘Animals,’ and powerhouse duo Blasterjaxx will all be flying the flag  for the Netherlands and infusing Cape Town Ostrich Farm and Nasrec Showgrounds  with their unmistakable Dutch House sound. What’s more, Dirtybird Records  kingpin and San Francisco native Claude  Vonstroke will be taking to the stage to deliver the freshest sounds from  the underground scene.<br />

As well as these, Ultra  favourites ‘The Voice’ and Kryoman are going to be on hand to keep  the energy at full tilt at all times, having become integral parts of the  festival through the years with their inimitable and amazing exploits.<br />

Aside from all the acts  coming from overseas, the Rainbow Nation is also offering up its own wave of the  very hottest South African talent.Roger  Goode, Pascal & Pearce, Haezer, Niskerone, Crazy White Boy, Das Kapital,  Chris Jack, Household Funk and Grimehouse are just some of the many more artists  that will be showing their skills in front of their home crowd.<br />

Nine months after premiering this track at Ultra Music Festival Steve Aoki and R3hab's "baby" finally has a release date. Flight brings together the style of two very talented producers, their sounds fussed together work towards creating a massive party anthem. Flight checks the boxes for having the big room sound, a sick Steve Aoki inspired drop,an infectious R3hab melody and of course a mean bassline that only the two combined could create. Every time we hit play our imagination transports us to an airport hanger filled with 1000's of crazy party people  jumping up and down in sync to the vocal commands of the track.We can't wait to experience this track live. Many fans have been waiting for a long time for Flight to be released, it is set for release on the 13 December 2013 via Ultra Music.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Strike up a conversation about the current state of EDM and it won’t be long before Nicky Romero gets an emphatic mention. The breakthrough star with the bulletproof work ethic is credited as a driving force behind the fantastic health the scene currently enjoys. In every aspect of his life – as DJ, producer and label head – he is a tireless advocate for his art. Couple this with a distinctive signature sound and compelling output and it is no surprise that he exploded into the DJMag Top100 chart at number 17 in 2012 – the highest new entry that year.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Nicky Romero, real name Nick Rotteveel, was born January 6th 1989 in the small city of Amerongen, Holland. A keen interest in the drums and an early career spinning house and r&b quickly evolved into an unbridled passion for music production. Early releases, picked up by boutique outfit Once Records, caught the attention of some of the more established labels: Spinnin’, Fly Eye, Toolroom and Flamingo Recordings.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">As he worked on honing his sound – a seductive blend of progressive house tinged with electro and acid – he sent a bootleg of David Guetta smash When Love Takes Over out into the world. The track’s online success piqued the interest of Guetta himself and in that moment Romero found his mentor and champion. They have since collaborated on multiple projects including Metropolis and Wild One Two, and in the summer of 2012 Nicky Romero accepted a residency at David Guetta’s infamous FMIF club night at Pacha/Ushuaia Ibiza.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Today Nicky Romero is paying it forward with his Protocol brand, championing up and coming artists like Nilson and Tony Romera with his record label, club night and radio show. Despite only having been launched during ADE 2012, Protocol Radio already has more than 20 million listeners worldwide and continues to grow at a rapid rate, whilst out of Protocol’s four record releases, three have hit the number one spot on the Beatport charts.</span><br />
