Second Release On 17 Steps Dusky 'Yoohoo' / 'Akebono'
Track Of The Day || Dusky - Yoohoo
Following their recent 'Love Taking Over EP', Dusky have announced the second release on their 17 Steps label.
The London based production and DJ duo Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell. Responsible for scene smashes such as “Flo Jam”, "Nobody Else" and Beatport #1 "Careless", the pair's diverse appeal has left them riding at the vanguard of the UK's house and techno renaissance, with an evolving sound that shows little sign of lingering in one place for too long.
With their dedicated fanbase growing by the month, Dusky's stock has risen consistently in 2014. DJ Magazine coverstars in March, the duo took over all three rooms of London's world famous Fabric the same month, and have since sold out curated shows everywhere from Manchester's Warehouse Project to London, Newcastle, Brighton and Edinburgh as part of their extensive Next Step tour; which will see them play to over 15,000 UK fans across 10 shows. Able to maintain an uncompromising but accessible sound, the pair has also bridged DJ support from Disclosure, Maya Jane Coles and Loefah, with tastemaking Radio 1 championing from Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Danny Howard.
Built around a distinctive vocal sample, “Yoohoo” rattles out with tough, techy bass stabs but comes alive with its nostalgic, euphoria-loaded piano house melodies that recall Chicago classics from 88, Sasha at Shelley's and Raindance at Jenkins Lane - as debuted as Pete Tong's Essential New Tune last Friday. Evoking a halcyon era with class and without cliche, “Yoohoo” draws on the duo's deep love of classic house, rave and techno, and reconstructs it for 2014 in their unique style.
“Yoohoo” will be released on 17 Steps in November, backed by the darker, more minimal 'Akebono'.
The release announcement also coincides with news that their next London show will be their “Dusky Take A Trip” experience at The Laundry on 7th March 2015. Nick and Alfie will be embarking on all-night journey of acid, electronica, house, techno and rave both past and present - allowing them to draw on the full spectrum of their sound.
