Kokiri Puts It Into Retrospect
Review || Kokiri - Retrospect
Release Date: 10th November 2014
1. Retrospect (Original Mix)
2. Retrospect (Illyus & Barrientos Remix)
Hailing from Liverpool Kev Willow better know as Kokiri brings a you radicle new retrospective track complete with a kick-ass remix . The EP’s title track, ‘Retrospect’ drums up an intentional feeling of 90’s house nostalgia. It’s a slick, punchy piano jam that’s designed for dance floor prime time, complete with a sticky vocal hook and warmly rolling drum machines.
Retrospect comes with a remix from Illyus & Barrientos – who recently dropped their ‘Stranded’ EP on Love & Other. They skillfully build upon Kokiri’s catchy, chord-heavy original, applying a signature dose of the duo’s deep and liquidly grooving sound. A dense, booming bass line underpins the newly transformed, club-centric cut, fused with a rhythmic vocal loop and glitchy technoid percussion.
You might not be able to turn back time but Kokiri's Retrospect might just pause time for a few moments.
