Verboten is excited to announce new additions to its series of CULTURE events this August, introducing the Wunderkind Trivia Night, Outdoor Willkommen Deep House Yoga and two new art shows: the ReBorn photography show by Reka Nyari and MELT. Meanwhile, Verboten’s Willkommen Deep House Yoga, weekend DJ Brunches, and Wasabassco Burlesque shows continue to go outside the box by combining music with art, food, wellness and more. Also, take a sneak peek at Verboten’s fall menu, available at this month’s culture events!
August 13 Wunderkind Trivia Night - Free
Verboten has partnered with TrivWorks to create Wunderkind Trivia Night, a heated, team-based battle of wits that will test both your brain and your liver with challenging questions and cool prizes including bar tabs, a table at the club, tickets to Verboten’s Wasabassco show, memberships to Chalk Gyms, and more! Wunderkind Trivia Night takes place the second Wednesday of every month. Doors at 7 pm / Event at 8 pm. The event is free; arrive early for best seating.
August 16 Wasabassco at Verboten: Rock & Roll Fantasy
Rock N' Roll Fantasy: a jaw-dropping striptease spectacle that will leave you breathless and gasping for more. A show perfect for the first date or the fiftieth, Wasabassco knows how to curate New York City's (and the nation's) top-tier talent for a disarmingly sexy event. Spend a little time with us and your friends will wish they had taken you up on that offer for a fun night out with great music, drinks, atmosphere and incredible performances. This is entire show is steeped in sexy, fun, smart and irreverent women that only come out to play at night. Starring Evelyn Vinyl, Nasty Canasta, Medianoche, Dolly Debutante, Nina La Voix, Dangrrr Doll, Harvest Moon and Audra Pace. Hosted by the Golden Glamazon herself, Sydni Deveraux.
August 19 Outdoor Deep House Yoga: Willkommen in the Park 6-10 pm
Verboten's popular Deep House Yoga series, normally held on Mondays and Tuesdays each week, goes al fresco with a special Willkommen in the Park. Yoga will be led by the famed yogi Elena Brower, with soothing deep house music by Willkommen residents George Faya and Tasha Blank. Beer, wine and light food will be available. Doors at 6 pm / Yoga at 7 pm / Social at 8 pm. Havemeyer Park / S 4th St and Kent Ave in Brooklyn. Rain date: August 21.
August 21 MELT. Art Show 8-11 pm
Verboten’s AUGUST art exhibit, MELT., features a hot selection of work from a variety of artists including Reka Nyari, Mike Prieto, Chris Callaway and Thayne Knop, with music by Joe Foxton and a special guest. The exhibit includes photography, mixed media and sculpture work.
Reka Nyari Photography Show: ReBorn
This month’s art installation in the Cabaret Bar features the sultry photography of nightlife staple and longtime Verboten favorite, Reka Nyari. Oversized nude studies with an emphasis on shadow, seduction and attitude. 'ReBorn' is on display until the end of August. Find more info at RekaNyari.com
DJ Brunch - Saturday + Sunday
Indulged in some late night revelry? Verboten’s got you covered with its DJ Brunch series every Saturday and Sunday. Revive yourself in Verboten’s beautiful skylit Cabaret Bar, featuring rotating art exhibits and complete with a crisp Martin Audio sound system. Verboten is breaking the mold of traditional brunch by serving food from 12pm - 8pm, catering to those who like to stay out late and still enjoy delicious brunch fare and specialty cocktails, alongside music from Verboten’s celebrated artist roster spinning from 4pm into the night.
WILLKOMMEN Deep House Yoga
Monday + Tuesday / 7 pm + 8:30 pm
Verboten brings together mind, body and music with WILLKOMMEN, a weekly yoga class series accompanied by the soothing deep house music of DJs George Faya and Tasha Blank. The classes take advantage of Verboten's large, skylit Control Room and cushioned, reclaimed wood floor, and feature Lululemon yoga mats and complimentary snacks from Divine Chocolates. Smoothies, water, coconut water and full bar are available.
