#SLATop5 Simon Lee & Alvin x think IN electronic August 2014 Top 5
Every month Simon Lee & Alvin share with think IN electronic their 5 favourite discoveries (in no particular order) and tell us why they love these records!
Sick Individuals - Wasting Moonlight [Armada]
Simon Lee : I was blown away on first listen! Sick Individuals have been having a great year and I think they kept this one for DJ Mag season! It's formulaic vocal house but I love every moment of it, it works very well for me. I'm really curious to know who made the vocals for this track.
Alvin : The Dutch boys give us something different from their normal aggressive style, probably bordering on crossing over to a genre suitable for mainstream radio and guess what, it’s still good! What makes this progressive house track even better is the vocals and outstanding lyrics .. "
Well come on, and wake up, Cause the hours you spend with your eyes closed, You're just wasting moonlight."
Alesso - Tear The Roof Up [Refune]
A : This is a must have in my DJ bag and in anyone’s arsenal of tracks for that matter. As the track title suggest, it will not only tear the roof up but also scorch the dancefloor. And to quote what Alesso FBed for this track: “Tear The Roof Up. The beginning of a whole new era for me. New label. New records.” So we’ll definitely be expecting even greater things from this musical prodigy.
SL : This is a no brainer dancefloor destroyer! I've always admired Alesso's production quality, and it shines through here as well!
Rob & Jack - Shadows (Karboncopy Remix) [Astrx]
SL : I'm a big fan of Karboncopy. We still have "Trilogy" on all our DJ sets. This is a great remix by the guys, their all about quality over quantity!
A : If you are already familiar with Rob & Jack’s “Shadows”, then hit the play button on Karboncopy’s remix. Needless to say you’ll be blown away by the energy infused. That is what the Australian duo are capable of accomplishing. It’s a no brainer they were awarded a spot in DJ City's '7 Australian Producers to Watch in 2014'. We agree!
Beat Service feat. Jess Morgan - When You Won't Come Home [Beat Service Audio]
SL : It's really difficult to come across a Beat Service production I don't love. I caught an early preview of this on Twitter and patiently waited for its release! Now its out and everyone needs to get a copy! Vocal trance at its best :)
A: I've been a fan of Beat Service since the early days when we had Madis guestmix our show. Glad to say he keeps surprising us till to date. Beat Service brings us a brilliant trance record and tops it up with the hauntingly beautiful vocals of Jess Morgan. Jess is also no stranger to the EDM vocal scene as she has worked alongside Dark Matters, Nitrous Oxide and Armin van Buuren.
Moiez feat. Alina Renae - What I Need This Time (Samme & Almond Remix) [FREE]
A: Vancouver producer Moiez with vocalist Alina Renae, what can I say, is a perfect combination for this production. This highly energetic track could even run on its own steam but Moiez pushes it a step further by collaborating with vocalist Alina Renae to achieve an epitome of greatness. If that’s not mind-blowing enough, Samme & Almond brings their remix twist to the table and what you get is another dimension of superiority. All you have to do now is hit the link and enjoy!
SL : This track .. I could try to explain why I love it, and how Alina's vocals hits all the right spots, but it's really how it makes me feel which is why I have it on this month's list. I'm a big fan of Moiez and I think Samme & Almond did a wonderful remix here. Alina is also a recording engineer, so her combination of talent and skill really shine here. For a free track, the quality is more outstanding then some of the signed tracks out there.
