Leechi Proves Why Insomnia Is Hard To Fight

Still only 18 years old yet seemingly a part of the Cape Town music scene forever, Leechi is one of the next generation of South African producers breaking through the boundaries what is and isn’t possible for a South African producer and DJ.

Leechi tears floors apart with inspired sets bridging the best parties the dirtiest, most underground and twisted beats. 

Dubstep, Trap, Drum & Bass and Filter House all get a look in along with the occasional cheesy classic like Wham’s Careless Whisper (played at Synergy Live 2013)

A regular at Sideshow and Assembly in Cape Town, Leechi has performed stand out sets at Plett Rage, Ramfest, Earthdance and Synergy Live festivals in the last year.

As a producer he treads the difficult fine line between mainstream accessibility and dancefloor devastation. 

His co-production with Das Kapital “Babylon” was one of the first releases on Do Work Records and has since become a firm festival favourite.  His new single French Toast is the best track Justice never made, while his new EP has elements of classic Talking Heads.

A guest DJ on the Ultimix Weekend Edition on national station 5FM and on Hectic-Nine 9 (the biggest youth TV show in South Africa) his appreances have all build Leechi’s popularity and profile.

The way he ignites the crowd and lifts the party is an essential quality for any DJ or producer and he has these qualities in abundance.

Leechi's brand new track Insomnia forthcoming on Do Work Records was premiered on 5FM's FreshAt5 Breakfast show yesterday morning, and is currently also on the Dubstep chart on YFM supported by DJ Doowap. 

In one day Insomnia has become the 5th biggest tune in the world on Hype Machine's twitter chart and it's not hard to understand why."This is the brilliant new version of the classic track by Faithless but brought right up to date.
