In celebration of Record Store Day 2014, Pretty Lights will release The Hidden Shades, a double 10” vinyl set containing four previously unreleased tracks recorded during the sessions for 2013’s GRAMMY®-nominated A Color Map of the Sun, plus four remixes of these songs. See below for track listing.
As an official Record Store Day 2014 release, The Hidden Shades will be limited to a single pressing. It will be available at independent record stores in the U.S., the U.K. and Europe beginning April 19. Derek Vincent Smith – aka Pretty Lights– selected some of his favorite #plpix entries posted by fans on Instagram to appear in the striking gatefold package.
Beginning today, fans can get free downloads of two tracks from the collection – “Lost And Found” and “Lost And Found (ODESZA Remix)” HERE: http://prettylightsmusic.com/ music/lost-and-found. The tracks feature vocals by the late “Uncle” Lionel Batiste (Treme Brass Band), who passed away shortly after the New Orleans recording sessions for A Color Map of the Sun. The ODESZA remix of “Lost And Found,” which premiered on Mashable.com last week and quickly climbed to #1 on Hype Machine, will also appear on the original motion picture soundtrack for the film Divergent. Both versions of “Lost And Found” are available now for streaming:

Rick Rubin has described Pretty Lights as "the face and voice of the new American electronic music scene" and Rolling Stone praised A Color Map of the Sun as a “uniquely crafted, groove-centric head trip.” VIBE hailed it a “masterpiece” andEntertainment Weekly put the album, which was nominated for a GRAMMY in the Best Dance/Electronica Album category,on “The Must List.” To produce A Color Map of the Sun, Smith spent a year composing and recording music and vocals that emulated genres and time periods that spanned the last century, then pressed it to vinyl. He used that vinyl along with a massive custom built analog modular synth to create A Color Map of the Sun. The second disc of the double-CD set, entitled Live Studio Sessions From A Color Map of the Sun, contains 13 tracks from the recording sessions.
Tracks from A Color Map of the Sun have racked up more than two million cumulative plays on SoundCloud. Over 167,000 downloads of A Color Map of the Sun and nearly 50,000 downloads of Live Sessions have been distributed viawww.prettylightsmusic.com.
