KENNA + RJD2: New Track “How Will It End”/”Love Is Still Alive” Remix Contest

 “How Will It End” from Grammy-nominated artist Kenna featured on the third and final chapter of his 3-part EP seriesImitation is Suicide. “‘How Will It End’ is the culmination of Imitation is Suicide,” says Kenna.  “This is probably the most innovative song in the series, and in order to make that kind of music you have to work with someone like RJ. He and I make alien waveforms. It’s just wherever our imagination takes us.”
 
"Working with Kenna on ‘How Will it End’ was like it should be - easy going, with great results,” adds RJD2. “I was surprised at first that he picked that track, cause it's got a strange change-up halfway through, but after the fact, I realize it's kinda right up his alley. I'm excited for folks to hear the EP, and to get some more music going in the future with him."
 
Imitation is Suicide is a unique, 3-part movement of EPs with a brilliant mix of multiple genres spotlighting alternative, funk, R&B, rock, and hip-hop meshed with electronic and an encyclopedic knowledge of pop melodies.
 
Kenna—in partnership with SoundCloud, Karmaloop, and Oliberte—recently launched a remix contest for his track “Love Is Still Alive,” featured on Imitation is Suicide - Chapter 2. The remix competition invites producers, songwriters, and artists of all genres to put their own spin on Kenna’s “Love is Still Alive” and compete for an array of prizes (see below). About Kenna:
 
Kenna is a Grammy-nominated musician, philanthropist and Chief Vision Officer and lead creative of the new Myspace. He was raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he became friends and career-long collaborators with Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. Kenna expressed an interest in music when he first heard U2's The Joshua Tree. That album inspired Kenna while studying singers like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, as well as groups like The Cure and Duran Duran.
 
Kenna has worked and toured with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Mark Ronson, No Doubt, N.E.R.D and Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan, Mike Shinoda, Lupe Fiasco, Santigold, & Ashlee Simpson. He continues to create his own sound that has yet to be categorized and filed under any mainstream genre. He is defined only by his natural constitution to never be what you expect. 
 
In addition to his musical pursuits, when Kenna learned about the global water crisis affecting his home village in Ethiopia, he decided to create the SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT project.  In 2010 Kenna and his colleagues climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to bring attention to the water crisis. Kenna developed a transmedia platform and 19,340 ft website with a game engine for fans and followers to participate virtually with the climbers. This concept, rooted in social media, was the first of its kind.  The project generated 3 billion impressions, over 1,700 pieces of traditional press and helped bring clean drinking water to thousands of people in his home country.
