Kenna — Imitation is Suicide - Chapter 3
On Imitation is Suicide - Chapter 3, Kenna teamed up with celebrated hip-hop producer/artist RJD2. The EP features the melodically eerie and electrically charged“How Will It End,” along with “Politics,” and title track “Imitation is Suicide.”
This is the third EP Kenna has released over the past four months providing his listeners with 12 original songs plus his “Relations” collaboration featuring Childish Gambino. Fans can submit their own version of Kenna’s “Love is Still Alive” for his remix contest through December 18 here: http://bit.ly/1d5kz2M.
Over the course of the Imitation is Suicide project, Kenna also released three videos beginning with his “Relations” lyric video, followed by his music videos for “Love is Still Alive,” and the “Relations” music video featuring Childish Gambino.
Inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson’s essay “Self-Reliance,” Imitation Is Suicide is a brilliant mix of multiple genres spotlighting alternative, funk, R&B, rock, and hip-hop meshed with electronic and an encyclopedic knowledge of pop melodies.
The Imitation is Suicide project is the runway leading up to the launch of Kenna’s full-length album in 2014.
Check out the feedback on Imitation is Suicide from fans and the music industry:
“Kenna's truly brought slow jams into the 21st century and for 4 minutes and 25 seconds he lets us know he wants to ‘have relations.’”

–Noisey
“The EP is a rather dope collection of all new material from the singer/songwriter and producer, showing off his range, his vocal abilities and his influences. This man, nor this project, should be slept on.”
–StupidDope
“Imitation is Suicide is an indietronic EP that highlights three genres – Alternative-Funk, R&B and Instrumental Hip-Hop. The stylistic diversity of the EP is showcased through the meshing of these three genres and also accompanied by three different tempos in each of the three tracks respectively.”
–DJZ.com
“Kenna's vocals remain in a class of their own, equally adept at sounding longing or ecstatic and making both seem like the place to be right now.”
–Hip Hop Isn’t Dead
“Kenna’s soulful vocals saran wrap RJD2’s hardcore electronic-laden production on their new track “How Will It End”
