celebration of electronic dance music and culture in
Utrecht, The Netherlands.
This international outdoor lifestyle and music event delivers an array of memorable experiences, year after year, to thousands of satisfied attendees in Holland. Presenting a fun and exciting concept, complete with a sound production and unique show of leading electronic dance music and audio-visual artistry, this quality event is set to wow audiences in South Africa. Lief festival combines a strong focus on quality entertainment and production standards with a fresh and original concept that is brand new in Africa. With a fine selection of international and local artists hosted on a hi-tech stage, Lief presents an exciting new prospect for South Africa.

The Lief Experience
Holland’s most loved electronic music festival will visit South Africa at the end of Summer 2014. The festival produces a quality production of leading Techno and House music, but most of all the festival carries out the philosophy of love and respect for each other, through a kaleidoscope of colourful experiences.
Lief festival is celebrated in Holland for its high quality and innovative presentation that combines unique experiences in music, art and decor.
And now, to spread the big love of Lief outside Europe, the festival will visit South Africa and take place in one of the most beautiful locations on the southern tip of Africa.
Collaboration is Key
With the movement of Lief to South Africa in 2014, the producers of this world-class festival aim to build a bridge of collaboration between South Africa and Holland, where international and local artists, producers and punters alike can all share in the benefit of this valuable exchange of culture and talent.
Theme
As a creative lifestyle event, Lief carries a friendly message of diversity and respect through the delivery of its original concept and theme. This features an artistic and well-designed characterisation of African animals, which creates the overall theme and atmosphere of the event. Based on a successful delivery of this theme in Holland on 7 September 2013, Lief provides a playful narrative for everyone to get involved in and enjoy the event as an expression of creativity. This aspect also distinguishes the original style of Lief from other electronic music events, and can be be likened to a festive, carnival style show that celebrates life and music.

Innovation is the name of the game as Lief brings together the finest leading and emerging sounds of the Dutch and South African electronic music industry. With a focus on Techno and House, and their myriad offshoots such as Deep-House and Tech-House, Lief invites artists from Holland and South Africa to blow the crowd away with scintillating performances, filled with sonic precision and uplifting electronic dance music. Lief Cares (Eco/Social)!
Lief festival wishes to ensure that the event’s impact in the region is of positive and sustainable benefit to the surrounding communities and environment. It is important that the festival does not bring disturbance nor imbalance to the area.
Clean & Green
Lief understands the need to respect the environment, which is why the festival is partnering with eco-friendly organisations such as Greenpop, and actively engaging in eco-friendly practices throughout the production of the festival – such as tree-planting, recycling and education programs.
Lief Trees
As part of this initiative, Lief attendees have the option to “Green Your Ticket” by purchasing a tree in addition to their event ticket, which will be planted in a sustainable manner and in consultation with the local community.
Social Outreach
This party has to be fun for everyone, which is why Lief is working with Boschendal Wine Estate to co-ordinate a community outreach initiative in the neighbouring area. This includes a certified hospitality industry training in which local participants will gain access to valued hospitality industry skills – in the interests of creating employment and income opportunities for those in need.
Event Details
Lief festival South Africa combines the best of an exciting festival experience with a relaxing weekend in the great outdoors. Thanks to the beautiful venue at Boschendal Wine Estate, attendees will have the option of two main ticket types:
1. General Entry
This ticket type is for general entry to the festival to experience all Lief has to offer from 12:00 noon on Saturday 29 March, until 02:00 am on Sunday 30 March 2014. At this point, after 14 hours of celebration, the first phase of the festival will be complete and closed to General Entry ticket holders.
2. Camping Experience
Lief offers a secondary ticket to a limited number of attendees who wish to enjoy an overnight stay on the lush festival grounds and take part in the Camping Experience. Following the overnight in a beautiful camping area, ticket-holders will be invited to participate in the Sunday morning program – watch press for details. Facilities such as showers will be provided and there will also be a limited number of comfortable tents available to rent for those who do not wish to bring their own. At 12:00 noon the festival bids goodbye to all those who shared in Lief festival South Africa 2014.
Line-up
Lief is proud to deliver an original and bespoke selection of mainstream and underground electronic dance music to be presented by world-class artists, both local (South African) and international (Dutch). Official Line-up will be announced late in 2013 and early 2014 – watch press for details.

Lief festival will take place on pristine grounds within the elegant Boschendal Wine Estate, which is nestled amongst the majestic Hottentots-Holland Mountains in the heart of the Winelands in the Western Cape. Boschendal is located between the historical towns of Franschoek and Stellenbosch, a region that is world- famous for it’s beauty.
