Delightful Delicious Festival
Delicious describes everything that brings delight to one’s
life. Delicious to us is pink, fluffy
and all things sparkly. When we heard that DSTV was hosting an event that
features both food and music, two things we can’t live without in the form of
Delicious Festival it definitely brought some delight to us. What more could we
ask for right? Spending a glorious South African Summer day in the sun with
good food, good music and amazing people is an opportunity anyone would be
stupid to pass up and here is our little take of the very tasty festival this
past weekend.
The perfect South African summer Sunday saw us head to the
Blue Hills Equestrian Estate, the venue for Delicious festival. We made our way
to the VIP parking which was a breeze and headed straight for the buzzing Food
market. We browsed our way through the numerous food stalls (all of which were
busy busy), where we were confronted with an abundance of yummy goodies from
cute little gourmet burgers, to Paella, to waffles, to delicious smoothies and
a whole lot more. We had a hard time deciding what to try and now we definitely
know where the extra killo’s we gained came from.
After we got some snacks we browsed the cute little pop up
Ocean Basket restaurant and the DSTV stand where we watched a cook off between
Mastercheff finalists and…we enjoyed a little chill time on the grass where we
were just in time for a performance by the Soulful Lira. We have to say Lira
looked fantastic in her yellow and black polka dot dress accentuated with a
dash of pink- perfect for the occasion. Her performance was divine and she had
the crowed eating out of her hands as she wooed them with her emotion filled
vocals and impressive dance moves. All we saw were happy faces as the energy
filled crowd sang and danced along to Lira. A true star talent, Lira definitely
proves that dynamite comes in small packages.
Lira handed the MIC over to another South African talent the
handsome Danny K. Danny had all the ladies and even some guys mesmerized and we
can’t say if it was due to his seductive singing or his good looksJ. He charmed
the crowed with his vibey, upbeat performance where he sang new tracks from his
album as well as edgy little mashups of his own tracks with hits from Daft Punk
and Kanye West.
After Danny K it was time for South Africa’s most loved band
Mi Casa. Mi Casa’s performance as always was impeccable. They all looked
adorable in black pants, white shirts and cute little bow ties. Led by the
super gorgeous and ever so charming J’something (singer), Mi Casa are truly
capable of melting hearts and souls with their smooth music. Performing tracks
like All the Glory, La Vida, These Streets the highlight came when they
performed the most recent release Jika. The crowd absolutely went crazy as they
all did the Jika dance in unison with J’something as he sang. On a serious note
though, not only can J Something sing but he also has dance moves to match and
we could watch him all night long. We and we are sure others that were there
are more in love with Mi Casa now after their performance. Mi Casa cleared the stage for the legendary headlining act
British Band Jamiroquai.
We had an absolutely awesome day at Delicious Festival and
cannot for the next one.
