This year, world-renowned Russian producer PROXY released his debut albumMusic From the Eastblock Jungles on Dim Mak Records in North America and onTurbo Recordings internationally. A two-part release—a rare feat in today’s singles-driven electronic music market—the Music From the Eastblock Jungles series harnesses the spirit of pure electronic music culture and showcases the prolific underground dance floor-czar’s wide-spanning body of work. Years in the making, the Music From the Eastblock Jungles series features a massive stockpile of new material with over 20 combined tracks that span and elevate countless genres—notably inflected by classic bass and drum ‘n’ bass ethos—without regard for trends or ephemeral influences. Part I opens the siege with flag-bearing marches (“Raja Ganja”), imperial air-raid bangers (“Raw”), and unhinged breakbeat madness(“Junk”) and also features PROXY classics both renowned (“Raven”) and unreleased (“Abyss”)Part II forces an unconditional surrender with a mix of acid(“Audio 15”), ambient (“Nanomed”), Eastern-flavored pop (“Coke”), and hip-hop inflected head-nodders (“9000”). The Music From the Eastblock Jungles series is the product of an artist who forged a sound in complete isolation with visa problems leading him to entrench himself in the middle of nowhere in his native Russia, continuing in the U.K. rave tradition of his idols The Prodigy. The disparate pieces ofMusic From the Eastblock Jungles converge into a monolithic nation-statement, one worthy of one of the most talented producers of his generation. The Music From the Eastblock Jungles series included an array of singles and remix EPs as well as theB-Sides EP featuring a collection of PROXY rarities.

Grammy-nominated international EDM star STEVE AOKI broke bands such asBloc PartyThe Bloody BeetrootsKlaxons and The Gossip through deftly marketed single and full-length releases on his Dim Mak label, which he began in 1996and now has nearly 500 releases to date. Those releases often dovetailed into performances at his weekly Dim Mak nights including Dim Mak Studios (still going strong every Tuesday night in the heart of Hollywood).  As a label owner and shrewd curator of talent from around the world, those club nights have hosted the debut U.S. performances of hundreds of acts over the last decade from Lady Gaga to Ed Banger Records & JusticeKe$haSkrillexKid CudiKaiser ChiefsNo Age to Boys Noize.  AOKI’s become a force of nature who has helped turn underground house, electro and harder-edged EDM with rap and rock leanings into the phenomena it is today: regularly pulling in 150,000+ fans at events such as Las Vegas’ Electric Daisy Carnival, the debut of the IDentity national electronic touring festival and hisDeadmeat co-headlining tour with Datsik.   AOKI’s punk roots go back to the art of the house party, when he was just a student at UCSB and was already booking bands such as The Rapture!!!Jimmy Eat WorldHot Water Music and At the Drive-In at his Pickle Patch bash and forging relationships with big names that would end up serving him well in the future (he met Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo at a secret show in college). In 2012, AOKI was in the next level of his incredible music career withWonderland as his first proper full-length release, followed by Wonderland Remixand his Deadmeat: Live at Roseland Ballroom DVD, all which bring a lifetime’s worth of passion for bands, DJs and artists of all stripes he has met and/or worked with over the past two decades to the forefront.
