EVENT | THINK IN ELECTRONIC
Four Tet Brings His Sonic Universe to South Africa This December - Don't Miss Out!
When it comes to electronic music that transcends genres, few names command the kind of reverence as
Four Tet. This December, South African audiences will finally experience the magic(again) live — as
Kieran Hebden brings his one-of-a-kind sound to
Johannesburg and Cape Town for two unforgettable nights.
On Friday, 5 December 2025, Four Tet takes over Under the Silos, Carfax Newtown (Johannesburg). The following night, Saturday, 6 December, he’ll transform The Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town into a glowing, pulsing dreamscape of light and sound.
This marks a rare — and long-awaited return — visit from the British producer whose name has become synonymous with innovation in electronic and ambient music.
A Moment the Local Scene Has Been Waiting For
For over two decades, Four Tet has quietly redefined what electronic music can be. His work fuses IDM, jazz, house, and ambient textures into lush, cinematic soundscapes that move both body and mind. His live sets, meanwhile, are hypnotic journeys — not just gigs, but spiritual experiences of rhythm and light.
Now, South Africa joins the list of global destinations to feel that refreshed energy firsthand.
“It’s not just a show — it’s a moment,” says Anything Goes, the local collective behind the event. “Bringing Four Tet here is about connecting our audience to the global conversation around music, art, and sound.”
Two Cities, Two Distinct Worlds
In Johannesburg, the raw, industrial atmosphere of Under the Silos sets the stage for an underground energy that’s pure, unfiltered, and alive. Expect deep basslines echoing off concrete, lights slicing through the smoke, and a crowd that knows its music.

In Cape Town, the setting couldn’t be more different — or more perfect. The Castle of Good Hope, one of South Africa’s oldest and most iconic landmarks, becomes a site of modern sonic ritual. Here, Four Tet’s immersive visuals will bounce off stone walls older than the country’s democracy — a fusion of past and future in sound.
Each city’s lineup adds its own flavour: expect support from Abby Nurock, Floz × Luc Vermeer, Thor Rixon, and Raresoftware, among others — a testament to South Africa’s own thriving electronic underground.
What to Expect
Prepare for a set that blurs the boundaries between genres, instruments, and emotions. From ethereal builds to deep, rolling house beats, Four Tet’s performances are studies in restraint and release — the kind of sets that leave crowds breathless, not because of volume, but because of feeling. If you’ve streamed Rounds, There Is Love in You, or his remix work for Thom Yorke and The xx, imagine all of that — but larger than life, in an open-air South African night.
